Large Group Workshop in Collective Center in Zajecar area

A very active Large Group Workshop was carried on in the Collective Center in the area of Zajecar on 25.03.07, inhabited by 80 IDP's mainly Roma from Kosovo. The workshop was carried on in 5 hours, with excellent facilitation by the National PCD Team at the Serbian RC: Snezana Petrovic (Sabac RC branch), Sanja Drezgic Ostojic (National PCD Coordinator at SRC HQ), Marija Pantic and Milica Jevtic (Mladenovac RC branch). The people were very active (check the photos on the main page), thanks to the great work of the facilitators and of the PRA team, and especially to Snezana leading role. A scene with one of the PRA team members, institutional stakeholder who had a heavy conversation with the people (saying that they do not take care about the facility and cannot really organize so to change anything) was very demotivating for the participants. As it happened in the last phase of the workshop - prioritisation and selecting of project concepts, the facilitators had a hard time to involve again the dissappointed participants and to successfully finalize the workshop. A very positive ending was the involvement of the children with their hopes and dreams. However more work will be needed in the future in both directions - institutional partners, and also on building self-confidence of the people in the camp. Photos from the event here.

Visit to the vulnerable community in Zajecar, Serbia
In March 2007 the Regional PCD Coordinator and the National PCD Coordinator for Serbia have visited the Collective Center Zajecar, one of the communities selected for implementing PCD. A series of meetings were held, with the local branch secretary and with members of the community. The whole crew included other members of the PRA team such as the comendant of the camp (a very active person), people from the local institutions and from the community. The problems of the community are very serious and various, starting from hygiene, lack of enough care for the children, obvious passiveness of the majority of people in the camp. Photos from the visit here.
